Almost 60 jears ago...
To tell the story of how our wonderful family business was founded, we have to go back 55 years. That’s when Mans Heuver established his one-man business in Den Ham. In 1966, the company was still focused on buying and selling truck tyres. His ultimate goal was to create a customer-friendly family business offering the best tyres, the best advice, and the best service—a goal we still pursue wholeheartedly to this day.
The Beginning
It was 1966 when Mans Heuver left his job as a driver at transport company Palthe and started his own tyre business. He brought Palthe with him as his first major customer. After just one year, he had outgrown his small shed and purchased a larger building in Den Ham (Overijssel). That’s when his son Jan joined the company. Business was thriving, and just three years later, a new branch was opened in Hardenberg.

Spreading Opportunities
Since the 1970s, Heuver has been expanding its opportunities by also selling agricultural tyres. In 1980, Mans took a bold step and purchased a building in Hoogeveen. This was also the moment when his son Bertus joined the company.
At the same time, the wholesale activities began to take on a more significant role, and Heuver became a specialist in earthmoving tyres. The company continued to grow, opening more and more locations. Around 1989, the family began considering joining a retail chain. Right at that moment, they came into contact with Profile Tyrecenter, which was looking to establish itself in the Netherlands. Heuver seized the opportunity, and all locations continued under the name Profile Tyrecenter Heuver.

The Best Choice and a Strong ‘Bond’
In the late 1980s, sons Jan and Bertus joined the company’s board of directors. As Heuver continued to grow, the decision was made to split the wholesale division from the service branches. It was a challenging move—but ultimately the right one, as quickly became clear. From then on, Jan and Bertus each led one part of the business. This allowed them to focus on their strengths while staying closely connected to the people around them. That connection has always been—and still is—our greatest strength.
At Heuver, we don’t just deal in tyres—we also trade in strong bonds. The connection with our employees is vital, as they are the backbone of our company. Today, in 2022, Bertus is still at the helm, while Jan retired in 2016. Heuver has remained a true family business.
Mans, Jan, and Bertus could never have imagined that Heuver would grow into what it is today.
